VIAVI ONMSi – OPTICAL NETWORK MONITORING SYSTEM

Optical Network Management System (ONMSi), product of Viavi-USA, is designed for many different fiber optical networks.The ONMS family provides benefits:
– Fiber monitoring for service providers, utilities, and dark-fiber providers
– Monitoring Passive Optical Network (PON)
– ONMSi detects and reports an alarm with fiber cut distance
The OTU (Optical Test Unit) – equipped with an OTDR test module, optical switch, and basic software that runs on a PC or laptop – plays a role as the core of the VIAVI optical network monitoring system (ONMSi). The modularity of the OTU meets all of the requirements for monitoring light or dark fiber-optic networks. Combining optical time-domain reflectometry (OTDR) and optical-switch technology, a single OTU unit can test hundreds of fiber links. When a fiber fault occurs, the ONMSi reports the GPS location of the fault within minutes and send alerts to the managers.
